When it comes to sex, snoring is no laughing matter! Snoring is one of the biggest “turn-offs” in any relationship, its many side-effects causing more break-ups and divorces than many other common issues. Sleep loss and chronic oxygen deprivation lowers your sex drive and even causes impotence.
A survey conducted by the British Snoring & Sleep Apnea Association found that over 50% of all respondents reported that snoring was having a negative effect on their sexual relationship. When it came to love making a third of all snoring couples said they hardly ever make love because of the snoring and 63% said they would make love more often if the snoring stopped. One couple stated:
“The frequency of our love making would increase if we just went to bed at the same time but my partner has to retire early to get to sleep before the snoring starts.”
As most couples know, snoring has a devastating effect on their love life, but what they may not know is that it can also have a negative effect on the sexual ability of the snorer to function. A study of nearly 5,000 snorers found that a significant number of heavy snorers had reduced sexual drive with over 50% of men experiencing erectile dysfunction. One participant stated:
“My wife and I are now separated because of a poor sexual relationship.”
Men who suffer from disruptive sleep wake up tired and suffer a high rate of impotency. The study showed that 60% of the men had abnormal sleep patterns, and of those, 80% had difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection. That’s right, the plumbing stops working well or not at all. Snoring is a major risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea.
So… if this is happening to you or better yet, before all this happens to you, save yourself a lot of heartache, money and may be your life. Ask for an overnight sleep study. With a proper diagnosis the appropriate treatment can be prescribed and you can be on your way back to health and happiness. I know because I’ve been down this road ahead of you and understand what you are going through.
